Jacob embarks on a crazy-stupid plan…and it works! Consequently he thought he was brilliant. But it was such a crazy-stupid plan that it could only succeed with God’s intervention….but Jacob doesn’t even consider that possibility. This story prompts us to wonder: how much is God acting behind the scenes in our own lives, and we don’t give God the credit?

Last Sunday, these beautiful flowers on our Communion Table were a gift from our very own Thelma Wagner.    Thelma was helping us experience the words of a favorite hymn:  
All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful, the Lord God made them all.
Each little flower that opens, each little bird that sings,
God made their glowing colors, God made their tiny wings.

Right now, 50 million people living across 45 countries are facing emergency levels of hunger.  PWS&D is already responding with Canadian Foodgrains Bank in places like South Sudan, Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia, where hunger needs are worsening every day.  Through our membership in Canadian Foodgrains Bank, donations to PWS&D are eligible to be matched through the Humanitarian Coalition Hunger Crisis appeal.  Donations made until July 17 will be matched.
