Grateful/Thankful/Blessed
Last year, I was diagnosed with an illness which put me in the hospital for nearly 2 weeks. Joan Rowe, through Meal Train, hand-delevered meals to me and dropped by for a visit each time. Thank you, Joan! And many thanks to the awesome ladies who made these meals for me while I was not able to do so for myself. In my opinion, you are the best soup-makers in Calgary, bar none! I did not lose a pound, and was well-fed and very satisfied, as well as within my diet! Blessings to each and every one of you. I will not name you, in case I miss anyone; but you know who you are, and may the Lord bless you as you blessed me. I will bring your containers to St Andrew’s and leave them (with a note), on the freezer downstairs. |

The Rainbow Team invites you to celebrate Pride with us!
6th Annual Citywide Pride Interfaith Gathering on Sunday, August 25 at 7pm, at the Calgary Unitarians Building (1703 1 St NW). The Citywide Pride Gathering is a celebration of our diverse faiths and identities and will proudly proclaim the message and celebrate the reality that it is possible to be queer and to be engaged and affirmed in your faith, whatever faith that is. The 2024 theme is: Queerfully & Wonderfully Made. This celebrates that 2SLGBTQ+ people are created in the image of The Divine: meant to be, exactly as they are. We will meet in the St. Andrew's parking lot at 6:15pm and carpool together. Please RSVP to Linda Johnson at 403-830-5881, if you plan to attend. YYC Pride Parade on Sunday, September 1 at 11am. Come celebrate Pride together and have "church on the road"! Come as you are or dressed in pride colours to celebrate as a community. We will meet at the Heritage C-Train station at 10:00am to travel downtown by train together. If choosing to drive, meet us on the north side of 9th Ave in front of the new downtown Calgary Public Library. We plan to be there by 10:30am. Please RSVP to Linda Johnson at 403-830-5881, if you plan to attend. The Rainbow Team is looking to hear from you! Wondering what to do with extra shopping bags?
If you’d like to donate them for Food Bank recipients, they would be most welcome!! The Food Bank no longer provides bags for people to use as they pack up their food hampers, and if people forget to bring bags it provides a challenge on getting their food home where it belongs!! Bring along your extra bags and leave them in a ‘FOOD BANK BAGS’ container in the Foyer! Thanks so much! |
Are you ready to let go of some of your ‘extras’?
We have had a request for some furniture – if you have any of the following you no longer need, please send a picture to ‘office@standrewscalgary.ca’, Dresser Thanks! ~ Deb |

SAVE THE DATE!!! The Mustard Seed’s ‘Coldest Night of the Year’
In the heat of summer it might help to think of something to cool us off. The Mustard Seed is excited to share an upcoming event they are deeply passionate about, and ask us to join them in their largest fundraising walk to combat poverty and homelessness. Mark your calendars for Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) February 22, 2025!

How blessed are we to have so many opportunities to participate in our ‘Wider Community’?
We have a unique opportunity to be led in a Presbytery workshop here at St. Andrew’s on Monday, September 30th by this year’s Moderator of the PCC, Rev. Dr. Patricia Dutcher-Walls. Come and be part of this workshop as we think about: How might biblical stories in which HOPE is inspired for God’s people lay a foundation for our own stories of hope and possibility?
