Sunday, June 5 - SACRED SPACES AND PLACES (Pentecost/Communion)
Geoffrey and Peter commence a series on times and places where we can catch glimpses of God. This week: WHERE do you glimpse God? We will use the parables of the pearl merchant and the treasure hidden in a field as guiding points-of-view that can help us see God in sacred spaces and places. To prepare for this week, you can read For more infomation visit: https://www.standrewscalgary.ca/pages/live-streaming-worship

Many of the groups on Sunday mentioned the tennis courts next to the Church as it related to their different focus.Fiona bought a pair of Nike shoes today - which got her thinking about their catch phrase ‘Just Do It’ . So here is a ‘Just Do it’ list: Fix: spray and remove weeds / remove garbage / fix or make some benches / fix holes in pavement To join the “Just Do It’ Crew e-mail Fiona - swankinson@gmail.com |

Contemplating our changing views on Human Sexuality – by Rev. Peter
Like the rest of our denomination, St. Andrew’s has been reflecting on LGBTQI+ for many years. This winter we held the well attended “Sexuality and Faith Explored” (SAFE) workshops. A survey of congregants informed us that 89% of respondents were in “support of the ordination of LGBTQI ministers and ruling elders.” Consequently, our SAFE Team has brought forward to Session a series of motions that (if adopted) will state our congregation’s alignment with the new direction of our denomination. These recommendations are not yet adopted by Session. The Session wants to bring them to your attention to create another opportunity for dialogue with you on this topic.

Spring Hike - Come one, Come ALL!!!
We are planning a Spring Hike for Saturday June 18th. We will meet at the Ribbon Creek Day Use parking lot at 10:00am. The parking area is accessed off the Kananaskis Village turn off. For anyone with the AllTrails App (a great free app for hiking routes!) the hike is called Ribbon Creek, Kovach, and Terrace Loop. The hike is a 5.6 km loop and should be enjoyable for all ages. Since this is a Spring hike be prepared for wet conditions on the trail (hopefully not though!). Dogs are welcome but must be kept on leash. We are excited to have Dr. Geoffrey Simmins joining to offer communion at a rest stop along the trail. For those wishing to unwind after our hike feel free to pack a lunch and meet up in the parking area afterwards. Please RSVP to lucy_aburto@shaw.ca so we have an idea of numbers attending. |

Firewood is provided. All ages and camping experience is welcome! Please contact Craig Murray at murraycraigjohn@gmail.com to book your spot! |
Do you know who is AMAZING at St Andrew’s? The YOUTH!
The youth are truly a wonderful committed group, and they have demonstrated that again at the Sundae Funday on May 29th, 2022. Calysta, Tristan, Lilwen and Douglas showed up with a big smile and a whole bunch of energy, and provided a ton of fun for the children at the Sundae Funday while their parents attended the workshop. They are a team who step up and give from their hearts! We are truly honoured to have them share their gifts at St Andrew’s! A huge shout out to Tristan, Calysta, Douglas and Lilwen! |

Claire Building Community Coffee and Gardening Time
One interest that is getting some attention at Claire House right now is gardening. A veggie garden is already in the works and could use some help; flower and shrub gardens to beautify the front entrance are an on-going possibility. If you want to help out at Claire, located in our neighbourhood, a short trek from St Andrew's at 7375 - 4A St SW, just come along for coffee at 10 am Thursdays. Be prepared to meet some of the Claire residents and for the possibility of helping with gardening. For more information, feel free to call Bill Judd at 403-278-5904.
