Sunday, May 22 - Only Together - Rev. Rod Ferguson
Jesus makes great demands on us as his disciples. He doesn't expect us to do anything on our own. We are graciously given the Holy Spirit - guide, interpreter, counselor, and advocate. We don't have to try to follow Jesus on our own. We need to help each other - with the help of the Holy Spirit! For more infomation visit: https://www.standrewscalgary.ca/pages/live-streaming-worship

RefleXions on the 3 questions that we need to ask ourselves when we do not know what to do.
When congregations see the need for change, they often say “We have to do something but we don’t know what to do!” Maybe that is what Jonah was feeling as he started his mission. How does a congregation imagine “the new thing” when they’ve never been there before? Listen to a portion of Rev. Peter's sermon here. If you get a commercial, click on ‘Skip Ad’ |

Looking outside ourselves - Jesus calls us to give ourselves awayRev. Geoffrey's RefleXions on this idea. As Peter has reminded us in worship and in his workshops, and as we heard in Tim Dickau’s workshop and sermon, being a missional church means looking outside ourselves.

May 29th ‘Worship & Work’ SundayInvitation to the Entire Congregation for Sunday, May 29th 10:00 - noon: Worship and Open Space Workshop on Finding our Strategic Direction Join us Sunday, May 29th and help co-create our sense of strategic direction with God, as an act of community and an act of faith, by naming the kind of world we, as a congregation, want to be a part of – think the Kingdom of God here on earth! What cause/need can St Andrew’s get its heart behind? Church School and activities will be provided for children. We encourage you to attend in-person as it will be a much better experience for you, but a combination of live-stream and zoom break-out rooms will be available for those unable to attend in-person. For St. Andrew's KidsSunday, May 29th, 10 a.m - 12 p.m. (during Sunday worship service extending until the end of the congregation workshop) Where: St Andrew’s Up High
As we start to see young people in church again, we have something to celebrate! All children are invited to join us for a fun worship time together with a treat of imaginative toppings in a “build your own sundae” experience! This will take place in the Up High space during regular Sunday service on May 29. As many parents will be staying for the workshop following the service that day, the children are invited to stay together for the second hour, where they will be enthusiastically led by some of our St. Andrew’s youth for more fun activities. See you there!

Ask, and you will receive.Just ask the Heritage Seniors. Or Betty Hill. In last week’s LinX, there was an ‘ask’ by Heritage Seniors for people from the congregation to help serve at the Strawberry Tea. And there was an ‘ask’ from Betty Hill for Christmas Cards so she can continue on with her work of creating placemats for Christmas 2022.Guess what? People from the congregation showed up to serve at the Strawberry Tea. And Debby has 2 boxes of Christmas Cards in her office to deliver to Betty Hill. |
With the reopening of the Karl English Lounge our church library is once again open for your enjoyment.
An inventory of our books was recently completed and although we’re pleased that the library books are being enjoyed by many of us, it seems that some of them are not on the shelves and have not been signed out. Please check your bookshelves, bedside tables, or wherever you stash your reading material to see if any of the following books are there. If you’re finished with them we’d be happy to have them returned to the library (there is a basket on the bottom shelf just waiting for them). If you’d like to hold on to them for just a little while longer, please either contact the office or Sylvia Shaw at sylvia.shaw@shaw.ca or by phone at 403-238-3369. You may ask "How do I know if the book belongs to the library?” Check the inside of the back cover and you’ll see it stamped "St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church” with a pocket for a library card, which may or may not be there. A list of the missing books can be found at the following link ~ we’d love to have them back in circulation for others to enjoy. Many thanks for your cooperation, and happy reading!
