Announcement from Dr. Tim
Four years ago next month the elders of St. Andrew’s gave a standing ovation when I offered to say “yes” to a call to come and lead a ministry of renewal here. In the time we have been together we have discerned a new shared common Vision, Mission, and set of Values that are beginning to inspire the trajectory of this ministry. We are working on a strategic plan to pragmatically make this Vision more and more of a visible reality in our congregation and in our city. At the centre of my call has been a desire to grow deeper spiritual roots—to tap into those springs of living waters we find in Jesus that sustain life and enduring vitality; my aim has been to place, above our individual wills, at the centre of our ministry, the seeking of God’s will. I have enjoyed growing greater spiritual leadership among our elders, as well as building a capable and collaborative Staff Team that now brings more of the gifts required for a vital missional ministry. And we’re about 60% of the way in this task of renewal at St. Andrew’s. And I had hoped to be here for the remaining 40%—but the Spirit is saying otherwise. On Feb. 8th I informed Session that it is my intention to respond to a new call that is being extended to me by Oakridge Church in the Presbytery of London, Ontario. Pending presbytery approval, I will complete my work at St. Andrew’s at the end of February. And after a two-month period of Session-endorsed health renewal, I will begin at Oakridge on May 1st. I am really excited about this new call.I know that such news may be a source of shock, frustration, anger, pain —but please know that I would not have come to this discernment without the support of my family—especially my wife, Joyce—as well as a significant amount of prayer, and spiritual guidance from others. We have enjoyed Calgary and our neighbourhood of Evergreen. We have found such joy in the spectacular beauty of Alberta’s mountains. In leaving, Joyce is sacrificing a job she loves and friends she deeply cherishes. And we remain grateful for the kindness and friendship we have experienced among you. For more infomation visit:

Puppet Show – The BenchThe Bench is a 23-minute puppet show created by Juanita Dawn of Long Grass Studios in Springbank, AB. Based on a true Calgary news story, The Bench is a family-friendly puppet show highlighting actions in our very own neighbourhood. Juanita Dawn has graciously given St. Andrew’s permission to “air” this pre-recorded/pre-pandemic performance of The Bench to raise funds for the Coldest Night of the Year. Please enjoy the performance, and sign up to walk and/or donate to the St. Andrew’s Striders in support of Coldest Night of the Year by going to our Event Page HERE. The puppet show soon will be available at the bottom of the "Coldest Night" Event Page on our website through to Friday, February 22. Thank you to Long Grass Studios and puppeteers Juanita Dawn and Monica Ila for this opportunity. NOTE TO PARENTS: At around the 15:57 minute mark, there is a short scene with smoking should this be of concern to you and you wish to “fast forward” through it.
