Epiphany 2: Brightening the Doorway - So Many Gifts - Dr. TimJanuary 16, 2022 – 10:00 am Sunday Worship Service People talk of the 20/80 rule?—where 20% of people in a group do 80% of the work. Then the 20% get weary, and start complaining about the 80% who are couch potatoes. By contrast, St. Paul often describes the church using the picture of the human body with all its very distinct and different parts—which all are needed and function together as a co-ordinated whole. It turns out that all of us are gifted; all of us have charisma! Hope you can join us this Sunday as we delve into these many gifts! Hospitality – The Ministry of Welcome
Throughout the next few weeks we will be considering the images and actions of “brightening the doorway” – our own doorways, whether those of St. Andrew’s or our homes, and the doorways of others. How appropriate, then, to revisit this article by John-Peter Smit, first published in May 2011. He writes about the Ministry of Welcome: How we do it and how we might do it better. While the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and related restrictions obviously affect some of the examples, the message still applies as we “brighten the doorways.”

The Prairie Centre for Ecumenism and The Regina Council of Churches
This year, due to the pandemic, we are not able to hold our regular events and so the Prairie Centre for Ecumenism and Regina Council of Churches have decided to partner and hold an 8-day virtual bible study series based on the themes for Week of Prayer 2022 which will run Tuesday, January 18th- Tuesday, January 25th from 12:15-1:00pm daily over Zoom with the exception of Sunday, January 23rd which will be held at 3pm. The theme for Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2022 is "We saw the star in the East, and we came to worship him” (Matthew 2:2) and materials have been prepared by the Middle East Council of Churches based in Beirut, Lebanon. This theme is developed through a series of reflections which extend over eight days and will be the basis of the bible study. Each day will be led by a different denominational leader. Further details and registration information will be released early in January.
