Congregational Town Hall – TONIGHT, Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at 7 p.m.
Hear Ye, Hear Ye – we are hereby calling everyone to attend the Congregational Town Hall Meeting this fall! Please come to see familiar faces, to receive an update on crucial aspects of our ministry and to ask your questions. COVID has curtailed our congregational gatherings, and we are missing those opportunities to connect and engage with each other more directly. Yes, this will be on zoom, so a poor substitute for an in-person gathering, but we can still see and hear each other. Please join Dr. Tim, elders, our General Presbyter/Interim Moderator and team leaders on Nov 3. You will hear an update on ministry and fall priorities, as well as a report on our current financials and early thoughts on the 2022 budget from the Finance Team. Don’t miss this chance for an hour of connection with your fellow congregants. Please click on the button below to join us tonight at 7 pm! (Meeting ID: 870 9147 8078 / Passcode: 671517) For more infomation visit: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87091478078?pwd=djZUT0o1VUtnbnBrNURsVEtISFVOQT09

‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
We’ve heard these words our whole lives. We memorized them as children. But this fall they took on a new meaning for those who participated in ‘The Art of Neighboring’ book studies. We were challenged to think about the words in the context of: ‘the great commandment of Jesus is not optional.’ Not optional you say? Then how DO I build genuine relationships with my neighbors? The participants of the Monday night, Tuesday afternoon, and Wednesday morning Book Study Groups would like to thank Bill Judd, Dr. Tim, and Ken & Sharon Burrill for their leadership. We are so grateful to you for your insights, faithfulness, and ‘calls to action’. You helped us grow life together. We are blessed. |
Being a Good Neighbour to Our Post-Secondary Students
The Faith Formation Team wants to provide a treat to each of our post secondary students during the upcoming exam period, letting our students know they are being thought of by the congregation of St. Andrew’s. We want them all to know we hold them in our prayers as they work towards their goals, many of them far away from home. We are simply seeking individuals/families who are willing to purchase a $25 gift card (Starbuck’s, Tim Horton’s, or Chapters/Indigo, etc.) to be enclosed in a card with a caring message and mailed to the student. We know from our previous similar initiatives that the students will be very grateful for the gift and encouragement. If you can help by taking a student’s name and arranging a gift card, please email Rhonda Wishart at Rhonda.wishart@icloud.com (or phone 403-614-9924) to be provided a name and address. Thank you! |
From the Gratitude and Generosity Team
We are extremely grateful for the generous support of so many of you to help our congregation meet its financial goals for 2021. Your donation means so much to the renewal of our ministry and mission! Our total count of donations at this point is 81 plates. It is not too late to donate using the instructions at the link below to help get us to 100 plates. We thank all our viewers and sincerely hope you enjoyed the special gift of entertainment that so many worked so hard to provide. What a beautiful, uplifting community of faith God is helping us grow at St. Andrew’s. THANK YOU! Tim begins taking 2 consecutive days off
Being the only full-time Minister at St. Andrew’s, we all realize the extra load that Dr. Tim is now carrying. We also recognize that since he arrived in 2018, Tim has been running short-staffed. Unfortunately, this heavy workload and the stress that comes with it, has taken a significant toll on his health. In keeping with Tim’s doctor's recommendation, the presbytery has prescribed that for the next 3 months Tim is to have 2 consecutive days off a week (which will be Friday and Saturday), and that, in addition to his meetings during the day, he will attend no more than 2 evening meetings per week (administered by the Executive Assistant). You can read the details of the letter from the Clerk of Presbytery by clicking HERE. If you have any concerns, please contact me (clerk@standrewscalgary.ca), or the Rev. Dr. Jean Morris, General Presbyter (jeanmorris@platinum.ca). Debby Dorcas, Clerk of Session |

The Wider Community
|
For the past several years, St. Andrew’s has focused our ‘gratitude and generosity’ at this time of year toward the Veterans Association Food Bank.As we become better neighbours in our communities, let’s remember: As we have been blessed, let us bless others. Meaningful words from their website: "We all want to get to a better place. A place of security, camaraderie, empathy and purpose – together. Our programs help enrich the lives of Veterans and offer them hope for the future." For more infomation visit:
