As a conclusion to our Neighbouring Series, this week we consider the film, ”A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD." Films are windows into the important issues of our culture. By using film in worship we better discover how the Gospel addresses such contemporary issues--and how we can better minister to those who struggle with such issues.  A central question of this movie is how we deal with fear and anger (both are significant issues during this pandemic). Do we simply say we’re FINE—(Feelings Internalized Not Expressed)?  In this movie Mr. Rogers shows us a very different “Gospel” way. By seeing and accepting a rather mean-spirited reporter, Mister Rogers illustrates how one person can inspire a world of kindness and transformation. As a part of our "Art of Neighbouring" series, a free screening of the film "A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood" starring Tom Hanks as Mister Rogers, will take place on Friday, October 29th at 7pm in the church. Depending on time available — Dr. Tim will lead a short discussion on the movie. However, you can be assured that Dr. Tim will be discussing the movie during worship on Sunday October 31st.
(As always, you may bring your own water, but no food is allowed.)

Hear Ye, Hear Ye – we are hereby calling everyone to attend the Congregational Town Hall Meeting this fall! Please come to see familiar faces, to receive an update on crucial aspects of our ministry and to ask your questions. COVID has curtailed our congregational gatherings, and we are missing those opportunities to connect and engage with each other more directly. Yes, this will be on zoom, so a poor substitute for an in-person gathering, but we can still see and hear each other. Please join Dr. Tim, elders, our General Presbyter/Interim Moderator and team leaders on Nov 3. You will hear an update on ministry and fall priorities, as well as a report on our current financials and early thoughts on the 2022 budget from the Finance Team. During our Worship Service on November 7th we will be observing Remembrance Day, and will again be showing images of our family members who are veterans.  If you have already sent pictures in previous years you don’t need to submit them again, but if you have never sent a picture that you would like included in the tribute, please send them to   ~    communications@standrewscalgary.ca    ~   prior to October 31, 2021, and make sure you indicate the name of the person, and how they are related to you.

On Saturday evening Brent, Stephanie, Braeden and Kaitlyn Werle let us into their home as they hosted our ‘Even Better Dinner You Never Had’ fund-raiser.  They also crept their way into our hearts.  We are so thankful for their fun, yet at the same time - professional - introductions to our musical selections. 

The Gratitude & Generosity Team wishes to thank all the performers and donors for their generous gifts of time, talent and treasure, making our “Even Better Dinner You Never Had” truly a delightful experience for us all in 2021! It was a fun evening filled with laughter, and a few tears of emotion were also shed as we were so lovingly entertained by many of our talented members and friends of St Andrew’s. A special thanks to the Werle family for their excellent hosting as our emcees for the evening, to Fiona and Garry Swanson who used their creative technical skills to put the video together for us, and to Evan Mounce for the extra support he provided to some of our performers. 
We are extremely grateful for the generous support of so many of you to help our congregation meet its financial goals for 2021. Your donation means so much to the renewal of our ministry and mission!
