The Keys to Joy: Attending to God’s Goodness - Rev. Dr. Tim ArchibaldAugust 22, 2021 - 9:30 am Sunday Worship Service As part of our continuing Summer of Joy at St. Andrew’s, this week we consider the second key to growing greater Joy in our lives—Attending to God’s Goodness. Scientists have long known that our brains have evolved with a negative bias; we tend to count our burdens more than our blessings. Joy, however, comes down to being awake and deeply aware of the love and goodness of God, and mindful of the wondrous gift of life. Joy has this expansive quality—a sense that there is enough, more than enough goodness to go around. Is it possible to re-train our brains toward gratitude and attending to God’s goodness?—because gratefulness makes us happy. A thank you to those who participated in, and helped facilitate, our "Coffee with the Preacher" zoom meetings which have now ended. With growing in-person attendance on Sunday mornings, Dr. Tim’s presence is needed at our door on Heritage Drive. "Zoom Coffee with the Preacher" is over for now. Already we have been seeing new people. Dr. Tim really enjoyed this fellowship time, and although we will no longer have Sunday morning Coffee with the Preacher zoom meetings, he looks toward some other potential connection points with our online worshippers. Flemming Nielsen is our very own energizer bunny!
He has taken on the role of Interim Facilities Lead with gusto, and has organized people, storage areas, a new cleaning company for St. Andrew’s, and the changing of the messages on our church sign - to name a few of his many accomplishments. He sees what needs to be done - and JUST DOES IT! Flemming, we are so grateful to you for all the things you do - both big and small, seen and unseen. Thank you!! |

St Andrew's Nursing Health Ministry
This ministry is devoted to growing life together through wellness. Its members include registered nurses, or those with appropriate health -care training and experience, who, on a volunteer basis, promote health and wholeness for members of the congregation through health education and promotion activities, spiritual support and encouragement. This ministry reflects the faith and compassion of Christ's followers and calls on the resources of the church and community to carry out this ministry of healing body, mind and spirit. We are in the process of reviewing this ministry and the first step is to change the name to better reflect our purpose. Wellness Ministry reflects our new mandate to broaden the scope of health education information to groups and individuals, collaborating with other ministeries within the church and with community partners. We would like to invite all professionals related to other health disciplines to join our team. Please contact Alice Williams at 403-281-4247 or by email alicemwilliams@shaw.ca if you are interested in joining our team.
