As part of our continuing Summer of Joy at St. Andrew’s, this week we consider the first key to growing greater Joy in our lives—COMPASSION.
Bringing joy to others is the fastest way to experience joy oneself. Shifting my focus to another person, lessens my own pain—and renews joy. What’s the difference between empathy and compassion? What about compassion fatigue? How is self-compassion related to compassion for others? Hope you can join us for Sunday Worship!

Luke 15: 3-10; 22-24; and 2 Corinthians 8: 1-4 provide us with a good starting point for Sunday’s message.

Her message is "Thank you for all the opportunities that St. Andrew's has given me for the past 3-1/2 years I have been at home and I look forward when I return to continue my service at St Andrews."  Our message is that we look forward to your safe return and thank you for service to us in the areas of Communications and the Creative Growth and Care Team, among others!

Last year, before Covid, the Human Sexuality Task Force was planning a series of workshops in May, the purpose of which was to explore together, with God, the intersections of sexuality and faith and how they fit into life here at St. Andrews.
In June the General Assembly of the PCC passed two resolutions: one, to ordain LGBTQ+ ministers and ruling elders and the other, to affirm both the traditional definition of marriage as “a covenant between a man and a woman” as well as marriage being a “covenant relationship between two adult persons”. 
Our Denomination offers a generous space at a time like this.  There will be no immediate changes for us since each Session is required to work through these decisions and discern for itself.  We too would like to provide generous space at St. Andrew’s  to engage as individuals and a community of faith in discussion and prayerful discernment in the coming months.  Stay tuned for more information.
