Rev. Peter Coutts will be leading worship for two weeks. He will be focusing on two common habits of mind that diminish our joy and how we can deal with them. Here is how Peter describes what you will hear in the second sermon:

We will be reflecting on two habits of mind that can squeeze out the possibility of experiencing joy in the here and now:  
1. Attachments, and 
2. Not being present to the present moment. 
I will tell the story of how the Buddhist monk Thich Naht Hahn introduced me to habits of mind that are actually also part of Christianity.

We hope you will join us on August 27 - 29 at Sandy McNabb Campground (Group A), located in Sheep River Provincial Park.  This year, there are 10 power sites available in addition to sites without power.  Even if you aren't a camper, we invite you to pack a lunch and join us for the day on Saturday, August 28.  The campground is located just beyond Turner Valley, a beautiful 1 hour drive from St. Andrew's.  We'll plan a hike and have an evening campfire, or maybe join us Sunday morning for outdoor worship.

My sincere appreciation to my many St. Andrew's friends who have sent me cards as well as several phone calls, after my son's sudden passing down in Spokane.  My thanks also to Lynn Judd and the lovely flowers from the choir.  I am indeed blessed to belong to the caring and thoughtful family here at St. Andrew's.
