James 1: 1 - 8 - Consider Life’s Trials as Joy? Really? - Rev. Dr. Peter CouttsJuly 11, 2021 - 9:30 am Sunday Worship Service Rev. Peter Coutts will be leading worship for two weeks. He will be focusing on two common habits of mind that diminish our joy and how we can deal with them. Here is how Peter describes what you will hear in the first sermon: This first of two sermons seems like a mind bender of the idea, until the reader focuses on the word "consider." To me the biggest tool in our spiritual toolbox is reflection ("consider" here). We will look at joy as a reflective practice--one that deepens our relationship with God, finds more joy in life and prompts how we live in the world. The link below will be updated on Sunday morning by 9:00 to take you to the service. For more infomation visit: https://www.standrewscalgary.ca/pages/live-streaming-worship

We are very grateful to Tom Spoering and David Kurtz, whose technical knowledge now allows us to conduct ‘hybrid meetings’
—where people can join a meeting either online at home by Zoom or in-person at St. Andrew's. Being able to accommodate both options allows our ministry work to continue with efficiency. Thank you, Tom and David! |

Rev. Dianne OllerenshawOur deepest sympathy goes to Bruce Ollerenshaw on the death of his wife, the Rev. Dianne Ollerenshaw. Sympathy also to their sons Keith and Christopher and their families. The Rev. Dianne Ollerenshaw passed away on July 1, 2021, almost a year after being diagnosed with Glioblastoma. Here are some comforting words from the Rev. Dr. Jean Morris: "With her on that journey was God as she had come to know God in Jesus Christ – a knowledge enriched by the relationships she shared with so many people throughout her faithful and varied ministries in Canada and throughout the world. For Dianne, the relationships she made in her work with the Indigenous communities of Alberta and beyond Alberta across Canada have been very significant and precious in her life’s journey." We give thanks to God for the life and ministry of our friend Dianne. Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord, says the Spirit. They rest from their labours and their works follow them. |
