The traditional words used when imposing ashes on Ash Wednesday are “you are dust and to dust you will return.”
God worked with dust, in creating humanity.
And God works with dust, in shaping our lives. We will reflect on a passage that imagines God as a potter, shaping our lives.

Our Reformed faith tradition has tended to focus more on the intellectual aspects of faith rather than on the experiential.

It is IMPORTANT that as many of us as possible attend this service as we begin ministry together with Rev. Laurie here at St. Andrew’s.
This is a presbytery service, and will be held at St. Andrew’s on Feb. 21 at 7:30 pm.

On Sunday, February 11 we celebrated two things:  Rev. Peter’s ministry as Interim Moderator ending (soon and very soon) ~ and Peter’s involvement in our congregation ~ especially in all things mission ~ continuing and growing.  We also celebrated the beginning of Rev. Laurie’s ministry as our Lead Minister.  For Peter we had heart-felt words of thanks, a gift of money, and cake!  For Laurie we had bins of goodies (oils, snacks, sauces, cleaning products…), a gift of money, and a spirit of welcome.  Thank you to all in our faith family who contributed to these gifts that were offered with thanks and love.
We have been blessed these past 2 years with Rev. Peter’s ministry among us.  We look forward now to Rev. Laurie’s ministry among us.  God is good… all the time.    All the time… God is good.     ~ Deb

The Search Team has come up with a wonderful idea to help Rev. Laurie get to know our St. Andrew’s family.  They will be presenting Rev. Laurie with a digital photo frame as a welcome gift.  They encourage anyone who is interested to take a photo of themselves along with their families, children, pets, etc. holding up a sign with a word of welcome or blessing along with the names of everyone who is in the picture.  The photo will be sent directly to the digital frame to help Laurie get acquainted with everyone. Parents & Grandparents get a night (150 minutes) to themselves too (think date night, dinner with friends, shopping).

Our Christian Meditation Group continues to meet on Mondays at 10 am on Zoom. Since Christian Meditation is such a meaningful spiritual practice, all are invited and encouraged to join us over the upcoming season of Lent. Beginning Monday February 19, 2024, we will be sharing a series of very accessible talks about meditation from Liz Watson’s “Images of Meditation.” We hope you will take part! Raising teenagers can be challenging! Advice from a respected author in the field and sharing successes and failures with fellow parents may be just what you need.
We will be starting a weekly Book Study on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. for 4 weeks, from Feb. 21 to March 13, 2024. We will study The Emotional Lives of Teenagers – Raising Connected, Capable and Compassionate Adolescents by Lisa Damour. The Study will be on Zoom and led by our own resource and coach on raising teens, Deanne Barrett.   The book can be purchased on Amazon or at Indigo.
