Sunday, February 4, 2024 - 10:00 amRev. Peter Coutts Is it in our congregation’s self-interest to be a missional congregation seeking the welfare of Calgary? Jeremiah’s words to the captive Jews in Babylon seems to suggest that. It doesn’t sound right….but can it be?

A picture’s worth a thousand words
The Search Team has come up with a wonderful idea to help Rev. Laurie get to know our St. Andrew’s family. They will be presenting Rev. Laurie with a digital photo frame as a welcome gift. They encourage anyone who is interested to take a photo of themselves along with their families, children, pets, etc. holding up a sign with a word of welcome or blessing along with the names of everyone who is in the picture. The photo will be sent directly to the digital frame to help Laurie get acquainted with everyone. Please email your photos to Bart Stolee at bartstolee@gmail.com by February 11 with the Subject line: Welcome Laurie from: <insert your name>.

A fresh start starts with a fresh coat of paint
The week of February 12, Rev. Laurie will begin her ministry among us. A fresh start for her… a fresh start for us. The three ministerial offices have been given a fresh start too - a newly painted start, thanks to the following people: Otto De Nooij, Elly De Nooij, Alfred MacRae, Jessica Adams, Don Koch, Mark Rowe, and Peter Ridley. We are grateful for their gifts of time, careful paint brush strokes and all the little details that come with painting!! ~ Debby |
We don’t need spare change, but do you have 30-60 minutes to spare on Thursday, Feb 1st, or Friday, Feb 2nd?
Now that the ministers’ offices have been freshly painted, we would like to make sure the book shelves and desks are sparkling clean too! If you have 30-60 minutes to spare on THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 1st or FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 2nd anytime between 10:00 - 12:00, can you call the church office at 403-255-0001 and let us know you can help out in this way? We would be most appreciative of the help!! ~ Dolly & Deb |

Last chance to contribute to the ‘welcome basket’
Thanks to all those who picked up a ‘stickie’ and purchased something to add ~ or donated money to add ~ to Rev. Laurie’s ‘welcome basket’ when she joins us in February as our Lead Minister. There may be a few stickies left this coming Sunday - if you would like to participate, please pick one up from the board in the Foyer. If you could have your contribution into the church office by Wednesday, February 7th, it would be appreciated. |
Celebrating Rev. Peter
Words will fail us in our attempt to thank Rev. Peter for all he has done for St. Andrew’s these past two years as our Interim Minister and then as our Interim Moderator. But we will give it our best effort on Sunday, February 11th. As part of our thank you, we will be presenting Peter with a Monetary Gift from the congregation on the 11th. If you would like to contribute, please contact the church office or speak with Dolly or Debby. ~ Debby Dorcas |

As Christians we trust in the Word of God and, oh, that it were that simple.
There was a time when the scholarly translations were altered to fit the ideology of those involved in the anti-gay movement. Shocking!!
