During our January 16th meeting with them on Zoom, they affirmed the call to Rev. Laurie McKay to come to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church Calgary to be our Lead Minister. |
Sunday, January 21, 2024 - 10:00 amRev. Clay Kuhn Some of us are known more by our nicknames than our real names. Joseph of Cyprus was a leader of the early church, who was nicknamed and known as “Son of Encouragement.” We’ll take a closer look at how Joseph's nickname revealed his faith, character, and example for encouraging others.

HOW can we possibly say a big enough ... THANK YOU???
In March of 2022 Rev. Peter Coutts ‘hit the ground running’ as our Interim Minister for the first year, and as our Interim Moderator the second year. As his work with us started, Peter focused on Session Development, Congregational Development, and Congregational Direction. Daunting? Just a tad! But Peter’s approach was ‘one chunk at a time’. He helped us build on our mission and vision statements in creating a strategic direction for us at this time in our faith journey. He listened to us, he comforted us, he challenged us. And perhaps the most important thing that Peter has done for us in the last two years is to care for and about us. He has worked hard to help us try and meet each other’s needs ~ as a session, as a congregation, as a church family. Peter has a heart for St. Andrew’s, and we are grateful beyond words for his care and concern, his wisdom and dedication, and his leadership these past 2 years. We are also grateful, thankful and blessed to know that although Peter will be stepping down from his current ministerial roles, he fully intends to remain a faithful member of St. Andrew’s and contribute to our life together – just in different ways. The office will be collecting a ‘Monetary Gift’ to present to Peter on his last ‘sermon Sunday’ – February 11, 2024. If you would like to contribute, please contact the church office or speak with Dolly or Debby. ~ Debby Dorcas |

Grateful, Thankful, Blessed!Sudanese Worship and Feast On January 14 the Sudanese congregation held their annual Christmas dinner. Sudanese hospitality is well known and many of their meals are communal. They extended the invitation to all of St. Andrew’s to join them. 13 hardy souls braved the arctic temperatures to join the feast. And it was a feast! The women spent all day Saturday cooking their many delectable dishes.

Sweet Treats
St. Andrew’s has always been a congregation that supports our youth attending LIFT (in the past called CY). We are hoping to carry on that tradition as some of our youth consider (and prepare) to attend LIFT this summer at Brock University in St. Catharine’s, Ontario in early July. To this end, we are going to ask for your help in fundraising for this significant event in the lives of our youth.
Thanks for your assistance - in whatever form it takes!!! |
