June 18, 2023 - Indigenous People’s Sunday (Father’s Day)Rev. Peter Wednesday is Indigenous Peoples Day in Canada. The sermon will focus on: what The Presbyterian Church in Canada has said about reconciliation with the first peoples of our land, what the New Testament says about reconciliation, and then what we can learn from Calgary’s history about finding new ways forward together. If you like history, this is a sermon for you.

June 25, 2023 - Tell the Good NewsRev. Geoffrey At Christmas, we sing with joy, “Go Tell it on the Mountains!” We are invited to share the Good News far and wide. Today, our Scripture from Matthew tells us, “What I say to you in the dark, tell in the light; and what you hear whispered, proclaim from the housetops.“ (Mt 10:27). Let the spirit of the Lord be with us as we proclaim the Good News. As a bonus ( to get folks ready for Stampede), this week’s service includes Bluegrass music offered by our very own houseband. Come prepared to dance in the aisles and feel free to get out your best Stampede duds a little early!

One opportunity for inside and one for outside
We need one usher for our worship service on July 23, and 2 ushers for July 30th. If you can help, please call the office at 403-255-0001. Thanks! Southern Alberta’s hot and dry summer has been very hard on St. Andrew’s horticulture. We are desperately in need of a volunteer or two to help keep our lawns and flower beds watered and looking good. We have equipment in place, and we are hoping to find one or two volunteers who live close to the church, who would be available to set out hoses and sprinklers a couple of times a week. If you can spare a few morning hours each week throughout the summer months for this purpose, please give me a call to discuss the details. |
It’s hard to say good-bye! But we need to celebrate ministry among us!!
We all know that Sunday, June 25 will be Rev. Geoffrey’s last day serving as our Interim Minister of Pastoral Care. We may KNOW it, but we are going to have a hard time accepting it! Rev. Geoffrey has come to mean so much to so many, and it will be hard to say good-bye. We are hopeful that as a congregation we have ‘returned kindness’ to Geoffrey and Joan, but we want to make sure we express our appreciation for all he has done for us over these last three years. If you would like to contribute towards a ‘purse of money’ for Rev. Geoffrey, please speak with Dolly or Debby. (As always, donation receipts will not be provided). And be sure to worship with us Sunday, June 25 for Rev. Geoffrey’s last service with us. |
