Grateful/Thankful/Blessed
We are so grateful to all of our SHEEP BUILDERS who braved the cold and snow on Saturday, Nov 23. We had children, youth, adults - all bringing their creativity to the task at hand. The day surpassed the expectations of our fearless leader extraordinaire ~ Sheri Coutts ~ who prepared so thoroughly for this day that she made it easy for those of us who cannot claim to be ‘artsy’ to BE artsy that morning!! So now… you all get to keep your eyes peeled on Sunday mornings leading up to the Intergenerational Musical “Uncertain Poor Shepherds’ for ‘Sanctuary Sheep’. Coolest sheep ever!!! ~ Deb |
Grief is harder around the holidays ~ Know how to deal with the challenges
If you find holiday traditions have changed, social events are draining, or sights, songs and smells trigger emotions, the Life after Loss team invites you to GriefShare: Surviving the Holidays on Saturday morning, December 7 at 10:00 in the K.E. Lounge to watch a helpful video and join in a discussion with others who are grieving. Facing this season can sometimes feel like taking one step forward and two steps back. But like a trusted guide, a Surviving the Holidays event will prepare you to navigate the season’s changes. More than just practical tips, you will be with a community of people who know what it’s like to walk through the holidays in grief. You will find connection and comfort in knowing you’re not alone this season. Please join us. |

SOUP MAKING TEAMWould you like to be part of a pilot project of providing soup to the Indigenous Friendship Centre (downtown) once a month? Terry Basaraba and Lynn Judd invite you to join them in our St. Andrew’s kitchen to make up a simple soup recipe ~ to be frozen and then warmed up at the centre. We hope to make a batch or two in December, and then we’re hoping to provide soup once a month in the new year. Please sign up at the volunteer sign-up table in the foyer, or contact the office at 403-255-0001 or office@standrewscalgary.ca if you would enjoy working as a team to prepare soup. If you have stock pots or ladles to donate to the centre, we would gladly welcome them. And thank you to all who provided ice cream buckets and lids! And… thanks for considering this request. Woven into the neighbourhood… ~ Deb |

Advance Care Planning—a gift from you to those you love
Last week, we encouraged folks to think about Advance Planning. Some people avoid this but thinking and talking about what you would like as you age, and when you die, is neither morbid nor selfish; it is a gift to others, so that they can be sure of what you want and ensure that your wishes are respected. Check out the church’s website for additional resources here. Geoffrey would be happy to meet with you or chat on the phone if you have any questions about this.
