St. Andrew’s is an intentional, missional congregation.
Mission is core to our purpose and identity.
For us, mission is our response to Christ’s call to love our neighbour.
By serving others in mission we know that we are serving God. This involvement gives our congregation vitality as we invest our lives in the lives of others. We apply ourselves in a way that is relevant to the need. By being generous in our response, our mission work will be visible to the wider community. Some of our ongoing mission activity includes:
- weekly preparing 75 lunches for children in neighbouring schools.
- weekly involvement with the residents of Clair House.
- being a weekly regional depot for the Calgary Foodbank.
- Our weekly Side by Side ministry if open to families in the neighbourhood who care for a family member with dementia
- we are the home for one of Calgary's largest AA groups with about 20 meetings here per month.
“Woven into the Neighbourhood” – Your Ideas Here!
While continuing with our “tried and true” missions, the Mission Team also is looking for new opportunities, particularly in our surrounding communities of Haysboro, Kingsland and Chinook Park. We are open to any and all ideas as we strive to live out our church’s vision to Grow.Life.Together.With God. and mission: “To be woven into the neighbourhood, growing disciples who love like Jesus.” See the specific page for "Woven Into The Neighbourhood" for the most recent news on this new congregational initiative.
We invite you to join us – all ages welcome! All you need to bring is some enthusiasm and creativity!
