On Oct 27th, we started a new study on a book called CONTEXT by Josh Scott. We’ll dig into some familiar passages and stories that have been separated from their context in our interpretation for about as long as we can remember. We’ll discover the importance of keeping the contents of Scripture in their place. They were created by people who lived in a real time and place, and who experienced real pressures and struggles, and who were trying to sort through the big questions of life. Sounds a lot like us, doesn’t it? By seeking to ground our interpretations of the Bible in the context of those who created it is the most honoring and loving way we can approach Scripture. It also unlocks a depth and meaning that we previously might have missed.
